IN the true spirit of multiculturalism, which has been the cornerstone of this nation, the management of Masjid Al-Qadim in Sibu, Sarawak, has put up lanterns around its compound in conjunction with the Chinese New Year next week.
Sarawak Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, said the 'CNY mood' was widely felt in Sibu town.
"Masjid Al Qadim was not left out in the celebrations and has put up lanterns around its compound.

"Let us celebrate Chinese New Year together, regardless of our race or religion," he said.
He said Sarawak has always been known as a role model of strong religious and racial harmony.
“Sarawak is very unique as any festival is celebrated by all, irrespective of religious or racial backgrounds,” added the Nangka assemblyman. – February 13, 2025
