THE British Council has announced the ‘Partner South East Asia: Arts and Culture Matters’ event, taking place online between November 22-25. The event will feature ‘Malaysia Now: Arts and Culture Mosaic’ – a country briefing session live on November 23 from 6.45-8.15pm.
The programs curated by the British Council arts managers across six Asean countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam) aims to reach arts and cultural professionals, academics, funders and government officials from the UK and Southeast Asian countries, in the spirit of connecting and collaborating with their respective counterparts.
The four-day event will feature three thematic sessions, five country briefing sessions, and a dedicated space for networking for future collaborations. The full event schedule can be viewed here.
As part of this event, ‘Malaysia Now: Arts and Culture Mosaic’ brings audiences on a retrospective, as well as forward looking journey at the opportunities and diversity of the arts and culture landscape in Malaysia and highlights possible collaborative connections between Malaysian and UK arts sectors and practitioners.

The first part of this one and a half hour session will shine a spotlight on a multimedia, cross-disciplinary project; SuperEverything and its UK and Malaysian artist collaborators.
In the second part of the session, two research reports on Malaysia’s arts sectors and cultural cities will be discussed, with the aim of further identifying areas of connection and collaboration between the two countries.
