FOR Michael Caine fans this is the event of the decade. Works of art and objects belonging to the British actor and director will be sold in March at Bonhams. Mark your calendar!

On the occasion of this sale, collectors will be able to try to acquire a selection of objects illustrating the evolution of Michael Caine's career over the decades. The biggest movie buffs will likely be interested in promotional posters for the films 'Alfie' and 'Zulu'.

The first one is estimated between £500 and £800 (between about RM2,881 and RM4,594), while the second one could reach up to £2000.

However, the most coveted lot of the sale is Marc Chagall's painting, 'Lovers in the Tree'. Bonhams has estimated it at between £30,000 and £50,000 (between around US$41,200 and US$82,400). This is a far cry from the US$28.5 million that 'The Lovers' sold for at Sotheby's New York in 2017.

Other paintings such as 'Peel Park' by Laurence Stephen Lowry and a portrait of Michael Caine by Lincoln Townley will also go under the hammer on March 2. Their estimates? Between £12,000 and £18,000 (between around US$16,500 and US$29,700 ) for the Laurence Stephen Lowry painting, and up to £15,000 for the portrait by the portraitist (approximately US$20,600).

Michael Caine is parting with items included in the Bonhams auction to raise money for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) charity.

"It's going to be quite a wrench to part with so many treasured parts of my life and career, but it's the right time to be moving on. I hope these mementos will give their new owners as much pleasure as they have given us," the actor said in a statement.
