ORSAY clock tower. I captured this moment during my visit to Musee d’Orsay in Paris. It’s a very big functional clock and also a window. The clock is the main facade to the river Seine. Looking through the clock gives you a stunning view of Paris including the sights of the Lourve, Sacre Coeur or the Tuileries Garden.
I was standing in front of this giant clock waiting for a moment when nobody’s in the shot to take a picture. However, it was difficult as there were so many excited people trying to get their pictures taken as well.
Seeing a lot of people in front of me, I still took the shot and thought it was okay to have the crowd in the frame as I felt there was more story behind the photo. A raw moment was captured.
Reflecting upon this historic place that was built in 1900, this clock reminds us that it was first a train station. Not many people could afford personal watches back then, and because of that this clock was built so huge and in an elevated place.
To me this clock will always stay relevant in this changing world. No matter how much time has passed, life always goes on. Time is the most valuable thing in this world where you can only get more but can never turn back. People tend to forget and to appreciate the moment in life we live in. – The Vibes, February 13, 2022
