WELCOMING the week on a high, homegrown film Mat Kilau Kebangkitan Pahlawan gained RM12 million at the box office since its release four days ago. The news was announced through a post on the Golden Screen Cinemas Instagram account.
Director Syamsul Yusof replied to the post noting his gratitude with a short “… next film let’s go” message promising Malaysian audiences more exciting projects to come.
This success is the first to have occured within the local industry, with high enthusiasm and returns in such a short span.
The film follows the story of a Malay warrior unmistakenly known as Mat Kilau rising against the invading British power in Tanah Melayu.
Mat Kilau stars a line-up of notable actors including Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan, Datuk Rahim Razali, Datuk Adi Putra, Namron, Fattah Amin and more. – The Vibes, June 27, 2022
