LADY Gaga, who is nominated for Best Song at this year’s Oscars for her track ‘Hold My Hand’ from the film Top Gun: Maverick, will not be performing at the ceremony, according to Oscars director Glenn Weiss.

While it is customary for Best Song nominees to perform at the Academy Awards, Weiss confirmed at a press conference on Wednesday that Lady Gaga is too busy filming the musical sequel to DC's Joker, called Joker: Folie à Deux, to prepare a performance.

Lady Gaga has informed producers that she will still attend the 95th annual Academy Awards as a nominee, despite not being able to perform.

However, all the other Best Song nominees will perform their respective tracks during the show, including ‘Applause’ from Tell It Like a Woman, ‘Lift Me Up’ from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, ‘Naatu Naatu’ from RRR, and ‘This Is a Life’ from Everything Everywhere All at Once.

This marks Lady Gaga's third Best Song nomination at the Oscars. She previously performed ‘Til It Happens to You’ from The Hunting Ground in 2016 and won an Oscar for ‘Shallow’ from A Star Is Born with Bradley Cooper in 2019.

Lady Gaga is set to star opposite Joaquin Phoenix in Joker: Folie à Deux, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2019's Joker. Although the singer's first look in character seems to suggest she is playing Harley Quinn, Warner Bros has yet to confirm her role.

Representatives for Lady Gaga have not yet commented on her absence from the Oscars performance lineup.

The 95th Oscars, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will be broadcast live on Sunday from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will air on ABC at 8pm ET/5pm PT. – The Vibes, March 10, 2023
