THE 2024 Malaysian  Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) results showed an increase in the Overall Grade Point Average (CGPA) by 0.01 points to 2.85, compared to 2.84 last year, recording the highest achievement since the STPM examination was implemented.

Malaysian Examination Council (MPM) Chairman, Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff, said the overall performance of candidates was also encouraging with 1,266 candidates or 3.06 percent obtaining a CGPA of 4.00 compared to 1,116 candidates in 2023.

"In terms of the achievement of candidates' CGPA, overall it was found that the number of candidates and the percentage of candidates with CGPA of 3.75, 3.00, 2.75 and 2.00 for STPM 2024 increased compared to 2023.

Md Amin said 76.55% of candidates — or 31,717 individuals — passed at least four or five subjects with a grade of C or higher, marking an increase from 75.85% (31,516 candidates) in 2023.

A total of 42,861 candidates registered for the 2024 STPM examination, slightly down from 42,908 in 2023.

"With the increase in the number of candidates with CGPA, God willing, more STPM 2024 graduates will be accepted into public universities," he said. - June 24, 2025
