A NEW national record for the largest iftar gathering held in a hotel was set when 1,770 diners gathered for a single Ramadan buffet event here last night.

The feat was officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records, surpassing previous benchmarks for large-scale communal dining during the holy month.

The record-breaking achievement at Wyndham Acmar Klang hotel was centred around the "Santapan Jalur Sutera" theme, a Silk Road-inspired culinary program featuring an extensive spread of more than 1,000 dishes, including condiments.

The menu offered a culinary journey spanning Malaysia, the Middle East, and Central Asia, served across multiple live cooking stations to accommodate the record-breaking crowd.

During the event, a representative from the Malaysia Book of Records presented the official plaque to Acmar Group Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer Joshua Tee.

“This achievement reflects the dedication of our entire team and the tremendous support from our guests and corporate partners. It is truly meaningful to see families, friends, and organisations come together in such a large gathering to share the spirit of Ramadan,” said Tee.

He added that organising the record-breaking evening required extensive coordination between culinary and service teams to ensure smooth operations.

Tee said the event followed a period of steady growth for the venue, which consistently hosted more than 1,000 diners per evening throughout 2024 and 2025.

“This year saw a further surge in demand, with nightly attendance frequently ranging between 1,400 and 1,700 guests.”

Wyndham Acmar Klang is also recognised as an ASEAN MICE Venue 2024–2026 in the Meeting Room category, reinforcing its position as a leading venue for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions.

Tee said the achievement not only elevated the hotel’s standing as a venue for large-scale events, but also reinforced Malaysia’s growing reputation as a hub for Ramadan hospitality, culinary tourism and community-driven gatherings. – March 18, 2026
