A GRAB driver’s simple act of kindness towards a passenger suffering from a slipped disc has touched Malaysians, with many praising his compassion and willingness to help despite facing health issues of his own.
The incident was shared by passenger Syifa in a Threads post, where she recounted her experience with the driver, identified as Rajakumaran, while using his service to return home.
Syifa said she was deeply moved by the Indian driver’s thoughtful gestures throughout the journey, including driving carefully and apologising each time the car passed over road bumps to ensure she was not in discomfort.
According to her, Rajakumaran was also quick to assist when he noticed she was struggling with her belongings, telling her not to lift her luggage and carrying the items himself all the way to her home.
“Thank you, uncle. You knew I was in pain, and you drove slowly. Every time we passed a bump, you said sorry,” she wrote.
“He carried my luggage, which felt like it weighed a ton, along with my laptop bag, and sent everything right up to my gate. He even scolded me when I tried to help.”
Syifa said what touched her further was that Rajakumaran himself was unwell during the trip, as he had been suffering from a severe cough.
Despite his condition, she said he continued to show concern for her safety, reminding her to take care of herself and waiting until she had safely entered her home before leaving.
“Even though uncle was not feeling well and was coughing badly, he still made sure I got inside first before he left. I hope you stay healthy, uncle. Please go to the clinic and get your cough checked,” she said.
The heartfelt account has since drawn widespread reactions online, with Malaysians expressing appreciation for Rajakumaran’s kindness and the compassion he showed regardless of differences in background or race.
Syifa ended her post by wishing the driver greater blessings and thanking him for his generosity.
“May your blessings be multiplied, uncle. Thank you,” she wrote. – August 2, 2026
