KUALA LUMPUR – The teaching and learning sessions for students who are sitting for major examinations in five states that are transitioning into Phase 2 of movement control under the National Recovery Plan (NRP) starting tomorrow will continue to be conducted via home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) until the midterm break.
The midterm break for states in Group A will begin on July 16 and July 17 for states in Group B.
The Education Ministry (MoE) in a statement today said the announcement on schools reopening for the next term slated to begin on July 25 will be made at least a week prior.
“Based on the standard operating procedures set by the National Security Council for Phase 2 of the movement control under NRP, face-to-face learning sessions are allowed for students sitting for examinations only.
"However, the MoE school calendar for 2021 will remain as announced by Senior Education Minister Datuk Mohd Radzi Md Jidin at a press conference on June 6,” read the statement.
During the press conference, Radzi said PdPR will be implemented for 25 school days starting June 13 and 14 according to the respective groups until the midterm break.
Yesterday, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that Perlis, Kelantan, Perak, Pahang and Terengganu will transition into NRP Phase 2 starting tomorrow.
He said this decision was made based on the thresholds achieved by these states.
The three indicators for transition into NRP Phase 2 are: the national daily cases must drop below 4,000, the bed occupancy rate in intensive care units should be at a moderate level, and at least 10% of the population should be fully vaccinated. – Bernama, July 4, 2021
