KUALA LUMPUR – After a successful appeal letter by the school, Venkateswaran Ramiah is here to stay at St John’s Institution as parents and alumni celebrate the decision.
St John’s Alumni Association (SJAA) president Isham Ishak broke the revocation on the organisation’s Facebook page.
“With this, Venkateswaran will remain in SJI (St John’s Institution) to continue his great work to provide and nurture our young Johannians to achieve their fullest potential and academic success.
“The SJAA records our sincere appreciation to Senior Education Minister Datuk Radzi Jidin, the Education Ministry, the Federal Territory Education Department and the tireless efforts of the board of governors of SJI, and fellow alumni members, who had pledged their support for Sir Ven in our appeal.
“It marks our strength as Johannians, standing united to preserve the interest of SJI for the future.
“What we have achieved is not a prize to brag but a commitment that we can continue to serve for the greater good of our beloved alma mater, SJI.
“Well done sir and great to have you back with us.”
Radzi yesterday took to Instagram to say that he had examined all documents and discussed matters related to the transfer of Venkateswaran, who is popularly known as Sir Ven.
Parents also commented on Facebook expressing their relief.
Amirul Mukminim said: “Great to see our favourite teacher back, well done to all Johannians”.
Prabha Sundram, a parent with children at SJI, who strongly opposed the transfer, said: “So happy to have you back Sir Ven. Well done to MoE (Education Ministry) for prioritising students’ welfare and teachers’ motivation in these difficult times. Thank you SJAA KL for their collective effort.”
The news of Sir Ven’s transfer to another school here was met with condemnation.
A group of SJI students even started a petition online, which attracted thousands of signatures against the transfer order. – The Vibes, July 26, 2021
