KUALA LUMPUR – In recognition of his expertise and contribution in the field of education, historian Ranjit Singh Malhi has been appointed to the prestigious advisory committee of Unesco’s Regional Centre of Quality and Excellence in Education (RCQE).
Based in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, the centre is responsible for disseminating a culture of quality and excellence in education systems by developing policies based on best international practices and research findings.
Ranjit, who has also contributed to the field of education in the Arab region for the past 20 years, assured that he will do his best to assist in realising the educational goals set out by the RCQE.
“I am humbled by the appointment and would like to thank Dr Abdulrahman Almedaires, the director-general of RCQE, for his trust and confidence in me.
“Together with the other members of RCQE’s advisory committee, I will do my utmost to assist RCQE in enhancing the quality of education in the Arab region,” he said when contacted by The Vibes.
To date, Ranjit has written 30 books on management, personal development and history.
His three best-selling books – Enhancing Personal Quality, Enhancing Self-Esteem and Make Yourself Employable: How Graduates Can Hit the Ground Running! – have also been translated to Arabic.
Ranjit joins the likes of Jordan’s Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat, Portugal’s former education and science minister Nuno Crato, and the Saudi Education Ministry’s general supervisor of the General Administration of E-Learning Department Ohoud Al-Faris, to name a few.
Ranjit also said that he will continue to lend his expertise and continuously help to improve the Malaysian education system.
“Even with the appointment, I am still very much passionate about improving the national education system,” he said.
In a statement yesterday, Asia Pacific University (APU) chief executive officer Datuk Parmjit Singh congratulated Ranjit on his appointment.
“Ranjit has been assisting APU to enhance the employability of its graduates worldwide by buttressing their soft skills and developing a winning and growth mindset,” Parmjit said.
