BUKIT MERTAJAM – Yayasan Aman here organised a programme today to encourage children to master skills in reading and writing.

In view of the challenges faced by young school children due to lockdowns during the Covid-19 pandemic, the foundation’s representative Nurul Izzah Anwar assisted 212 students from SK Tanah Liat, Bukit Mertajam.

“We are concerned that the effects of such lockdowns may contribute to these children becoming illiterate and we need to assist them now,” said Nurul Izzah.

The former Permatang Pauh MP said that she felt compelled to help the students through the programme, which was launched last month and ended today.

The programme was done with the help of the foundation and the tuition class scheme i-Sina.

Ten teachers from i-Sina helped the students to read and write better since January 16.

Also present were Penanti assemblyperson Norlela Ariffin, district education officer Nakeli Harun, school principal Hakimi Saman and i-Sina chief executive officer Ahmad Latifi Abdul Rahman.

The programme was catered for students from Year 1 to 6 and it will continue during the school holidays – The Vibes, February 17, 2023.
