KUALA LUMPUR – Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) etched their name in the history books after winning the 2022 Malaysia Cup, adding to their treble of winning the Super League, FA Cup, and Sumbangsih Cup.

Going up against Selangor FC who were looking to add to their 33 Malaysia Cup titles, JDT had to come from behind after Herlison Caion Da Souza Ferreira slotted the ball past JDT’s goalie Mohd Farizal Marlias from a penalty kick right before the 45-minute mark.

Under the helm of head coach Hector Bidoglio, the Southern Tigers evened the score before half-time, as frontman Bergson Da Silva headed the ball in from a corner-kick in additional time.

A poor clearance effort from Selangor goalkeeper Mohd Khairulazhan Mohd Khalid gave Fernando Forestieri the chance to double the score for JDT, and the Argentine curled the ball into the top corner.

In front of 79,988 roaring fans, JDT lifted the Malaysia Cup once again.
