KUALA LUMPUR – It was a gruelling third day for the search-and-rescue team at the site of the Batang Kali landslide as they battled unforgiving weather.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department had said it found four new leads on the possibility of finding remains in the rubble while the use of ground-penetrating radar was helpful in narrowing down the search area in all sectors.
Although no soil movement was detected at the search location, the search team was urged to remain alert due to the rain.
Norazam added that most of the bodies were found intact, mostly at a depth of one to two metres.
The operation was stopped for about an hour at 4.30pm due to rain before resuming at 5.30pm, but had to be halted again at 8.15pm due to heavy rain.
As for today, the search-and-rescue operation resumed at 8am and focused on Sectors A and C as well as surrounding areas that have yet to be excavated.
