KUALA LUMPUR – As the holy month of Ramadan is coming to an end, Muslims in Malaysia have been busy preparing to usher Hari Raya Aidilfitri while awaiting the sighting of the new moon of Syawal tonight.
Apart from thronging Ramadan bazaars to prepare for the breaking of fast daily, many took the opportunity to shop for clothes and foodstuff this week.
Equally exciting are the festive decorations that have been put up throughout the city, malls and streets while some have begun their balik kampung journey as soon as the school holidays started yesterday.
In addition, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an additional national public holiday in conjunction with the Raya festive season – giving Malaysians more time to spend with their families.
Meanwhile, the government also waived toll fees nationwide between April 19 and 21, and April 24 for 33 highways nationwide, applying to all vehicle classifications.
