KUALA LUMPUR – After kicking up a fuss over the Madani Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house in Alor Star tomorrow, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has said he will be attending the event after the state ruler consented to going.

“The Kedah MB is scheduled to attend the Madani open house tomorrow to escort state ruler Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah tomorrow,” Sanusi’s press secretary Muhamad Mat Yakim was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.

The open house in Kedah will be held at Alor Star’s Raia Hotel from 10am to 2pm.

This comes after Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said in a statement that the sultan will be joining Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the national-level open house celebration in the state capital tomorrow.

He added that this will further enliven the occasion and give Kedahans an opportunity to celebrate Raya with Sultan Sallehuddin.

Yesterday, Sanusi said he would attend the open house if Sultan Sallehuddin consents to attend.

Previously, the menteri besar accused the federal government of using Raya open houses as costly election campaign events.

Anwar will also be heading to open houses in Kelantan (May 12) and Terengganu (May 13), as well as those organised by the state governments in Selangor (May 14), Penang (May 6), and Negri Sembilan (May 7). – The Vibes, April 28, 2023
