A RECENT viral video which shows a teenage girl using crutches being refused a seat in a women's carriage of the MRT has sparked a heated debate on social media.
The video uploaded by TikTok user @natberacun shows the girl standing in the corner while all the seats are taken, with nobody offering her one.
While a number of netizens felt this should not have happened, others shared mixed reactions.
Some netizens did not mince their words and said this showed a lack of empathy among Malaysians.
According to reports, RapidKL later responded in the comments section, expressing regret and reminding passengers to give priority to those in need.
According to Rapid KL's guidelines, priority seating on trains and buses should be given to the elderly, pregnant women, people with disabilities, and passengers traveling with young children. Other passengers are encouraged to offer their seats to those in need. – December 9, 2025
