JCL Credit Leasing Sdn Bhd (JCL) has entered into a commercial partnership with conversational artificial intelligence (AI) provider AI Rudder to deploy AI-powered voice agents across its consumer finance operations in Malaysia.

The technology will initially be used for two key functions — verifying customers during the financing application process and supporting debt collection efforts — as the company steps up its digital transformation initiatives.

JCL said the rollout follows a pilot programme that demonstrated improvements in handling large volumes of customer interactions, prompting the company to expand the deployment across its operations.

The AI Voice Agents are powered by AI Rudder’s proprietary large language model, Voyager, which was developed specifically for the financial services sector.

According to the company, the system is designed to understand natural conversations, process unstructured information and make real-time decisions, helping to shorten customer verification times while maintaining accuracy.

JCL, which provides personal and product financing through an extensive network of motorcycle and electronics dealers nationwide, said faster customer verification is increasingly important as financing applications continue to grow.

AI Rudder Malaysia country manager Roshan Gill said artificial intelligence is expected to become an integral part of financial institutions’ workforce over the coming years.

“In the coming decade, every financial institution will have an AI workforce operating alongside its human workforce.”

“The leaders of tomorrow will be those who successfully blend human judgment with AI-driven execution,” he said.

He added that the deployment reflects the industry’s gradual shift from experimenting with AI technologies to using them in core business functions where operational improvements can be measured.

The integration is supported by Malaysian fintech company JurisTech, whose lending and credit management platform connects the AI Voice Agents with JCL’s existing operational systems.

JCL director Yutaka Tanimoto said digital innovation remains central to the company’s long-term growth plans.

“The successful pilot with AI Rudder demonstrated how AI can improve operational efficiency, accelerate customer verification and support better engagement at scale.

“As we expand our presence across Malaysia, adopting intelligent technologies such as AI Voice Agents enables us to build a more agile, customer-centric organisation while maintaining the high standards of service and compliance that our customers expect,” he said.

He added that the collaboration with AI Rudder and JurisTech marks another milestone in JCL’s ongoing digital transformation while strengthening its ability to deliver more efficient financial services.

The deployment also reinforces AI Rudder’s growing footprint in Malaysia’s banking and financial services sector, as more consumer finance companies turn to AI-driven automation to improve efficiency, reduce processing times and enhance customer experience. – June 30, 2026
