THE ES is Lexus’ most popular sedan, with more than 2.3 million cumulative global sales since the first model arrived in 1989. In October 2018, Lexus Japan made a bold launch of a brand new ES sedan. It sat on a brand new GA-K platform with great torsional rigidity and a low centre of gravity.
This luxury car was longer (+65 mm), lower (-5 mm) and wider (+45 mm) than its predecessor. The longer wheelbase (+50 mm) allowed the wheels to be pushed closer to the car’s corners, with wider front and rear treads (+10 and +37 mm). This allowed for great passenger comfort in the rear.
In September 2019, Lexus Malaysia introduced an all-new ES luxury sedan in two variants. The ES 250 Premium at RM299,888 and the ES 250 Luxury at RM332,888. Both versions of the ES were equipped with a 2.5-litre VVT-iE engine. It had an 8-speed conventional automatic transmission with Artificial Intelligence.
Now for 2021, comes the Lexus ES 250 Limited Edition which will be the only variant of the ES model on sale (no more two variants). It replaces both the Premium and Luxury variants, but its equipment list looks closer to the higher-end Luxury trim level.
Priced from RM327,510.50 (yes, you have to pay the 50 sen), this is the 2021 model of the popular ES luxury sedan.
And its asking price is not that high, even being fully imported – unlike the BMW 5 Series (priced from 311,980 to RM365,980) and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class (priced from RM318,270 to RM367,062), which are both local assembled.
Both the BMW and Mercedes-Benz no longer enjoy hybrid tax incentives and so their selling prices are now fair to Lexus prices.

The Lexus ES comes with the latest in Lexus’ arsenal of safety features, particularly the Lexus Safety System + (LSS+). These include the Pre-Collision System (PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and the Adaptive High-Beam System (AHS) as some of their key features.
Lexus ES 250 Limited is priced at RM320,510.50 on the road without insurance. Lexus vehicles purchased from any of the six authorised Lexus Malaysia outlets throughout Malaysia will be provided with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty on their vehicles. – The Vibes, January 12, 2021
