IN the last year, every month the BMW Group has seen significant growth in sales of their electric cars. This is why the development and launch of new electric driven models continue despite the growing reach of Covid-19 around the world.

BMW further adds that the change to electrification will take some time. And the best scenario in the future corresponds to a 25 to 30% total electric vehicle sales by the year 2025 while still having about 70% of vehicles with combustion engines.

This is why BMW is continuing to invest in combustion engine technology.

Meanwhile, BMW plans to have more than seven million electrified vehicles on the roads by 2030. By 2023, the BMW Group will offer customers no fewer than 25 electrified models including a fully-electric variant of the next-generation BMW 7 Series, the BMW X1 and the BMW 5 Series.

Customers will be able to choose between the pure electric vehicle, a plug-in hybrid, an efficient diesel and a petrol version with 48-volt technology.

BMW i4 handling

So, the soon-to-be-unveiled BMW i4 is currently completing the final phase of driving dynamics testing. The focus here is on the integrated application of all drive and suspension components.

This ensures that the spontaneous power delivery of the electric motor is combined with precisely controllable handling in every situation, fascinating cornering dynamics, optimised traction in all weather and road conditions, and perfectly balanced ride comfort.

For the purpose of this fine-tuning process, the BMW Group applies its technological expertise in the areas of drive and suspension drawn from decades of experience. This gives the new BMW i4 a mature premium character. It makes for a driving experience that is unique within the competitive environment.

BMW i4 power

With a maximum output of up to 390 kW/530hp, the electric powertrain in the BMW i4 enables impressive acceleration. It reaches a speed of 100 km/h from standstill in just 4.0 seconds.

Still a BMW

The distinctive driving dynamics of the BMW i4 and its performance characteristics are not achieved at the expense of driving comfort.

This purely electrically powered Gran Coupé is characterised by unrestricted suitability for day-to-day use.

Fitted with a high-voltage storage system featuring the latest battery cell technology that enables a range of up to 600 kilometres (WLTP) for much-reduced driving range anxiety, the chassis technology of the BMW i4 is designed for long-distance comfort, too.

It is based on the high-quality damper technology, supplemented with model-specific components and separately tuned. This effectively reduces body vibrations due to road unevenness and on bends.

The model-specific fine-tuning of the suspension and damping contributes significantly to the harmonious driving characteristics of the BMW i4.
