IN recent years we have seen a rise in the demand for SUVs and crossovers, however there is one car manufacturer that wants to continue exciting vehicle buyers with their sedans. In addition, this company wants to offer a class with the best warranty on their cars.

This is Kia Motors and they have a new and exciting K5 sedan on offer. In other words, Kia will continue to offer its SUVs like the Seltos, Sportage and Sorento, however they want to also keep their sedans fresh and inviting for another group of buyers.

In Malaysia, the Kia business has seen better days and with a possible transition in business on its way, there are uncertainties right now. In addition, the closure of the Kia RED Cube outlets has led to some worry amongst car buyers.

Meanwhile, strong rumors in the market point to the arrival of a new brand guardian for Kia in Malaysia and this could mean more exciting models like this K5 GT. In fact, with the new brand guardian, we could see a better warranty offering.

In April 2020, Kia Motors Corporation announced the launch of the ‘Kia Promise’ which is a global warranty extension programme for its vehicles. This promise was made on their European Kia website.

Kia design language

This Kia K5's powerful and angular design language represents another chapter of boldness and passion for the brand.

The centerpiece is Kia's modernized ‘tiger face’ with the wide and thin front grille extending into the headlight and hood structure.

From the side, the K5's low-slung and fastback silhouette confirms the impression it was made to run, highlighted by a chrome garnish that spans the roofline and wraps around the rear glass.

Kia K5 GT cabin

Harmonizing the open layout of the cockpit is a newly designed infotainment display that seamlessly stretches into the instrument panel, creating a futuristic, three-dimensional layout and driver-centric space.

The Kia K5's new identity starts with the advanced third-generation N3 platform, which will serve as the foundation for future Kia models.

In this application, the platform allows the K5 to sit longer, lower and wider compared to its predecessor, resulting in its aggressive profile and deeper center of gravity for a more exciting driving experience. Improved sound deadening materials result in a quieter and more premium cabin.

Kia performance

Kia's exhilarating and efficient powertrain unleashes the spirit of the everyday driver, with a turbocharged unit.

Kia engineers further pushed the envelope with an available eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission for fast and precise gearshifts, plus an available all-wheel drive system for improved traction and capability.

The best engine option for Malaysia will be its 1.6-liter turbocharged GDI four-cylinder engine producing 180 horsepower and 264Nm of torque.
