A total of 15 participants representing 13 states, as well as the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur/Putrajaya and Labuan will compete in the Malaysia Day Artistic Poetry Declamation Competition (SDPAHM) 2021 on September 15.
President of the National Poets Association of Malaysia (Pemuisi), Datuk Dr Radzuan Ibrahim said SDPAHM 2021, which was the association's second programme, was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP).
He said the programme, in conjunction with the Malaysia Day celebration, would be broadcast live on the DBP and Pemuisi Berkarya social media platforms from 9.30pm to 11.30pm.
Radzuan said SDPAHM 2021 still maintained the same format as the previous year.
“Participants recite poems in a free style as appropriate and can use props, music, slides, pictures, graphics and other tools that fit the concept and poem selected. However, the scoring criteria still retains the elements of presentation, smoothness and soulfulness or appreciation of the poetry text," he said in a statement today.
Radzuan added that this year's champion will bring home a new round trophy, the Malaysia Pemuisi Series Cup to replace the old trophy, the Pemuisi Series Cup – which was won by Noor Azli Sudin from Perak last year.
SDPAHM 2021 will be officiated by Motac secretary-general, Datuk Wira Dr Noor Zari Hamat.
