STROKE survivors from the B40 community can register now to receive free rehab sessions at the National Stroke Association of Malaysia (Nasam).
The programme will run for a year from this month, it said in a statement. The participating stroke survivors will be sponsored by Yayasan Hasanah.
The free rehab is on a first-come, first-served basis and is being offered at Nasam centres in PJ, Ampang, Malacca, Johor, Kuantan, Perak, Penang and Sabah.
After confirming an appointment, the participant will then go through a stroke assessment conducted by Nasam physiotherapists. The stroke assessment will provide a better understanding of the stroke survivor’s needs and issues.
It will help establish their medical, social and rehabilitation backgrounds. There will be checks on cognition, speech, swallowing, movement and function.

Successful participants will undergo a stroke-specific rehab programme. There will also be a family discussion to help ease the planning of a customised rehabilitation programme to fulfil the stroke survivor’s goals while meeting the family's needs.
Nasam urged all B40 stroke survivors to take advantage of the offer, which is supported by Yayasan Hasanah and the Ministry of Finance, under HSG2021 (Hasanah Special Grant). – The Vibes, October 7, 2021
