THE leading foundation that promotes Malaysia’s global sustainability, Yayasan Hasanah, under Khazanah Nasional and in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance announced its extension of the Hasanah Special Grant 2022 (HSG22) deadline to August 15.
Yayasan Hasanah trustee and managing director Datuk Shahira Ahmed Bazari said: “We are glad to be able to accommodate even more applicants.
“Previously with HSG 2020 and HSG 2021, a total of RM50 million were distributed through 160 projects that have assisted a total of 190,000 beneficiaries.
“In our current HSG round, a total of RM100 million is being made available jointly with the Ministry of Finance.
“To date, this year we have identified over 450 eligible organisations and we are still hard at work going through the proposals,” she added.
Yayasan Hasanah is looking especially for programmes that provide a direct impact on people in need including on livelihoods.
“For instance, skills training and income generation, mental well-being, arts preservation, leadership skills, academic achievements and others that are feasible and aligned to our focus areas.
“We are transparent with what we look for and each criterion is outlined in a checklist during eligibility assessment.
“We also hold workshops and one-to-one consultations with eligible organisations to help them through the application process,” shared Shahira.
Long-lasting change cannot be achieved alone
Yayasan Hasanah’s main goal is to advance the nation across all layers of society, one social development cause at a time.
The following are priority subsets of the present grants: Education: (1) talent development – scholarships and capacity building (2) mental health provision in education facilities, Community Development: (1) livelihood (2) leadership
Environment: (1) sustainable development models (2) responsible plastics use Arts and Public Spaces: (1) conservation of assets, eg textiles (2) creative economy performing arts.

Apart from the HSG22 grant, the Hasanah Social Enterprises Fund, in support of social enterprises to sustain their programmes, fundraise, and increase public awareness is also open for applications.
The Arts for All Seasons deadline was recently closed. It focuses on the performing arts and the creative economy, including shows, exhibitions, preservation and conservation.
