IN the latest update on the upcoming coronation of King Charles III, three of the UK’s biggest music stars – Elton John, Harry Styles and the Spice Girls – have reportedly turned down the opportunity to perform at the new monarch’s coronation concert.

The concert is scheduled for at Windsor Castle on May 7 (Sunday), with a number of high profile acts going on stage to celebrate the first ceremony of its kind in many generations.

According to The Sun, Elton John, Harry Styles and the Spice Girls were approached, but they are each apparently too busy to perform for the occasion.

Styles is currently on tour, with a show scheduled in Coventry in May.

90’s pop superstars the Spice Girls – of course made up of Victoria Beckham, Mel C, Mel B, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton – broke up in 2000, but would have reunited for the coronation.

However, classic pop boyband Take That are reportedly taking part in the concert, which will also include Kylie and Dannii Minogue.

The event will be broadcast on the BBC, a day after the King's Coronation and is expected to draw in huge ratings.

For the concert, more acts are expected to be named in the coming weeks, with a source saying: “The biggest names and acts in world music are being approached for the concert.

“If you draw up a list of the most popular acts in the world over the past 30 years then they are all being considered.

“But Take That were right near the top of that list and are a massive coup for the organisers to get over the line so early.” – The Vibes, February 26, 2023
