FOLLOWING the Sheraton Move and London Move, a new 'move' termed the Dubai Move has now emerged.

This move is apparently being orchestrated by opposition party leaders including certain representatives from the government, with the same goal - to bring down the Unity Government led by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to reports in Berita Harian quoting deputy director-general (Community Communications) Datuk Ismail Yusop, the Dubai move cropped up when certain Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders, including those from the government, were holidaying in the UAE recently.

He claimed that the meeting took place to discuss specific duties for 'officers' responsible for identifying MPs who could be influenced to shift support to the opposition to set up a government through backdoor manoeuvres (tebuk atap).

Apart from PN leaders, he claimed there was also the involvement of influential veteran political figures with the rank of Tun who conspired with the opposition including allegedly using 'foreign sources' to overthrow the Anwar-led administration.

"Ahead to the new year, since this week or two, rumours about attempts to use backdoor manoeuvrings to take over the Madani Government resurfaced," he said.

He claimed there were even former ministers and their allies involved in the plans, which included the use of all local and foreign resources.

Speaking to BH, Ismail said he got information about the new move to overthrow the government from various sources.

He claimed he had details about the PN leaders, even those in the government who were allegedly involved in the Dubai Move, but chose not to disclose it as it was not his responsibility.

Elaborating on what he considered to be a treasonous attempt, Ismail urged the Prime Minister to build a solid foundation and act decisively.

He stressed that the move clearly shows that it is a malicious political conspiracy and potentially threatens the sovereignty and security of the country.

"PMX has a strong basis to act affirmatively. PMX also needs to immediately instruct the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Inspector General of Police and national security agencies to investigate those individuals found to be directly involved.

"It includes (dragging those who) have anything to do with this evil effort (Dubai Move) to be interrogated or have their statements taken," he said as reported by BH.

A viral message on social media recently claimed that a plan was being hatched in Dubai, dubbed the Dubai Move, by representatives of Umno, PN and GPS.
