A POLICEMAN was charged at the Ampang sessions court today with the rape of a student near Persiaran Saujana Ampang, on January 9.

Lance Corporal Muhammad Fazrul Razzi Yunus was charged with committing the offence against the 17-year-old girl in a patrol car at about 10.30pm.

He was also charged with carnal intercourse against the order of nature, using an object during a sexual assault, and sexually assaulting a minor.

He faces two charges of rape under Section 376(1), which carries a maximum 20-year jail term and whipping, and 366CA of the Penal Code for using an object during the alleged sexual assault.

For this offence, he faces up to 30 years in jail and whipping upon conviction.

The accused also faces up to 20 years’ jail and whipping for the charge of committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent under Section 377C of the Penal Code.

The fourth charge is framed under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for a maximum 20-year jail term and whipping upon conviction.

Fazrul pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court then set RM20,000 bail for all the charges against the accused.

The court set March 12 for mention, while sessions court judge Norshila Kamaruddin imposed additional conditions on the accused.

The accused is to report to any police station in Damansara once a month and is not allowed to be anywhere near the alleged victim.

The accused and another policeman were also charged at the magistrates’ court with extorting the alleged victim’s 17-year-old boyfriend into paying them RM500.

Fazrul and police constable, Adib Aikal Shahrul Nizam, 24, had allegedly threatened the teenager that they would spread videos of the underage couple kissing if he did not pay them.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at Ampang Hillview on the same night.

The duo were charged under Section 384 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 10-year jail term, fine or whipping or any two of penalties upon conviction.

Magistrate Amalina Basirah Md Top allowed bail of RM4,000 with one surety for each of the policemen. – The Vibes, January 17, 2024
