OPPOSITION MPs who signed the Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) with the Madani government will receive their parliamentary allocations once Budget 2027 is passed, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.

He said the Supply Bill 2027 was still being debated in the Dewan Rakyat and was expected to be passed by the end of the year.

“Once Parliament passes it, we can channel the allocations immediately, in accordance with the understanding reached,” he told reporters after Friday prayers at Masjid Al-Muqarrabin in Bandar Tasik Selatan today.

Six Bersatu MPs signed the agreement with the government at Parliament yesterday, committing to support Anwar’s administration until the end of its term, including the passage of Budget 2027.

They were party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (Pagoh), Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin (Putrajaya), Datuk Ali Biju (Saratok), Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (Langkawi), Nazri Abu Hassan (Merbok) and Datuk Azman Nasrudin (Padang Serai).

Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman of Muda also signed the agreement, together with six former Bersatu MPs who were expelled from the party in 2024 after declaring their support for the government.

Anwar said the arrangement was open to other MPs, drawing parallels with the political agreement negotiated in 2021 when he was opposition leader.

He recalled that discussions on parliamentary allocations had taken place between Pakatan Harapan and the government of the day, which included Umno, Barisan Nasional, PAS and Bersatu.

“The principle is the same as what I did when I was opposition leader. At the time, we held discussions and made proposals on allocations. There is nothing unusual about this,” he said.

Anwar also rejected suggestions that opposition MPs had been denied allocations, insisting that parliamentary funding had continued for both government and opposition representatives.

He described the latest agreement as a positive development and said other MPs could enter into similar arrangements based on the same approach.

Asked whether the CSA served as a warning to parties in the unity government against withdrawing their support for fear of losing allocations, Anwar dismissed the suggestion as a political interpretation.

He said such agreements were common in democratic countries and pointed out that Malaysia had gone through similar negotiations under previous administrations.

Anwar also noted that representatives from Bersatu, PAS, Umno and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) had been involved in discussions with Pakatan Harapan during the negotiations for the earlier agreement. - October 30, 2026
