MCA, MIC, nothing more than irrelevant lapdogs?

THE recent shambolic exchange between MCA and its UMNO masters shows that Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong’s party is still in denial about its servile role.

Sim Tze Tzin said UMNO is eager to hop into bed with former rival PAS, leaving MCA and MIC as nothing more than minor, irrelevant lapdogs.

“The views of MIC and MCA are totally irrelevant and disregarded by UMNO,” said Sim, who is the political secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Sim said that while the original Barisan Nasional was based on consensus and mutual respect, this current situation shows that UMNO holds all the cards.

“All others are merely expected to ‘kowtow’ because they have no other choice.

“Barisan Nasional chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, maintained that “everything is positive” within the coalition.

“At the same time, Wee, who is MCA president, claims the party has yet to make a final decision on seat allocations for the Melaka state election.

“Looks like Zahid’s statement is far from the truth,” added Sim, who is also the Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry.

Yesterday, Wee said no final decision has been reached yet over seat negotiations for the upcoming Melaka state election.

This comes after Ahmad Zahid said that “everything is positive” within the coalition following an earlier meeting. – October 28, 2026
