SELANGOR is considering a cooperation arrangement with 11 Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) assemblymen that could see them recognised as supporters of the state government, with a decision expected in the near future.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said further discussions were needed before the state government could finalise the arrangement, which could be decided before or during the Melaka state election.
“We will wait because this involves other lengthy discussions. God willing, we will decide soon, in the near future, possibly during the election or before,” he said.
He was speaking at a dinner marking a review of the status of the Gombak-Hulu Langat (GHL) Geopark last night.
Media reports had previously said the 11 Bersatu assemblymen were expected to meet the Selangor government to sign a cooperation agreement.
A party source said the proposed arrangement involved all 11 representatives, who would subsequently be regarded as supporters of the state government.
The source added that the plan would not be affected by the Registrar of Societies’ cancellation of Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) registration, as the proposed cooperation involved Bersatu.
Separately, Amirudin, who is Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) election director, called on party members to respect coalition decisions following former Melaka DAP chairman Damian Yeo’s statement that he would leave politics if PH ceded the Bemban state seat to Bersatu in the coming Melaka election.
Amirudin said PH’s decisions were reached through discussions that considered various possibilities and the broader political circumstances.
“That is PH’s decision, and all party members should respect the decisions of their respective coalitions or political alliances.
“Within PH, we discuss matters openly and consider all possible scenarios and eventualities,” he said. - October 28, 2026
