THE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a fruit and vegetable trading company was charged in the Shah Alam Sessions Court today for fraud in connection with the RM1.65 million purchase of a durian orchard business two years ago.
The accused, Chan Huann Heng, 58, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him.
According to the charge, he dishonestly induced a company director to authorise a payment of RM1.65 million for the purchase of a durian orchard business in Raub, Pahang, on February 5, 2024.
Chan is alleged to have deceived the victim into making payments—via account transfers based on invoices—from the company Topone Solution Sdn. Bhd. to DXN Industries (M) Sdn. Bhd.
The offence was allegedly committed at a clubhouse within the Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, Petaling Jaya.
The businessman was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of one to 10 years' imprisonment, whipping, and a potential fine.
Muaz Ahmad Khairuddin, a Deputy Public Prosecutor for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), requested that the court set bail at one-tenth of the total value involved in the alleged fraud—amounting to RM100,000.
However, defence counsel Dhanesh Subramaniam Nair requested a reduction in the bail amount, arguing that the proposed figure was punitive, given that his client has merely been charged and has not yet been found guilty.
Judge Dazuki Ali subsequently granted bail at RM80,000 with one local surety and set the next mention date for November 30. - October 27, 2026
