POLICE have arrested two people linked to the sale of tanker MT Global 168 as investigations widen into the seizure of 1.16 tonnes of ketamine by Indonesian authorities last week.
The suspects are a director of the company that originally owned the vessel and a ship sales agent or broker, Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said.
Both suspects, aged 40 and 44, were remanded for seven days from Oct 26 to Nov 1 to assist investigations.
Hussein said preliminary findings showed the tanker was bought in April for refurbishment and resale to make a profit before it was sold to Myanmar-based Golden Dolphin Co Ltd, in Yangon, through an agent or broker on June 28.
Police have also identified three other individuals believed to be citizens of Singapore, Taiwan and Myanmar, and are seeking them to assist the investigation.
Hussein said investigators were examining all leads to establish the involvement of every party connected to the case.
“Any enforcement action will be taken based on the evidence obtained and the provisions of the law in force,” he said.
The narcotics department is working with Indonesian authorities and other enforcement agencies on intelligence sharing, locating suspected individuals and coordinating further action within their respective jurisdictions. - October 28, 2026
