MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong today said no final decision has been reached yet over seat negotiations for the upcoming Melaka state election.

In a statement, Wee said it was too early to characterise the outcome as positive at this stage.

"Both sides need to continue discussions, and I hope that a resolution can be reached within the next day or two," he said.

He said he met with BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and Melaka CM Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh last night in Kuala Lumpur to discuss matters concerning the Melaka state election.

"The meeting concluded around 1 am. Yes, the meeting took place in a calm and cordial atmosphere, without any conflict.

"MCA clearly expressed our dissatisfaction regarding the seat allocation for the Melaka state election.

"We have always adhered to principles by presenting facts, rational arguments, and engaging in discussions with decorum. When differences of opinion arise, we strive to resolve them through negotiation and dialogue," he said.

On the statement by BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that “everything is positive” within the coalition following last night's meeting, Wee said both sides need to continue discussions.

"Any decision concerning MCA’s next steps, as well as the party’s final stance regarding the Melaka state election, will be discussed and determined collectively by the party’s top leadership at the central level,” he added. – October 27, 2026
