PAKATAN Harapan (PH) will focus its Melaka state election campaign on explaining the Unity Government's achievements and welfare initiatives to voters, rather than resorting to personal attacks and divisive rhetoric.
Home Minister and PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the government's performance and assistance programmes must be communicated effectively to convince voters to support PH candidates.
“We do not want to win an election campaign through insults. That is not PKR's way. We do not want to win through incitement or division.
“Our politics is different. It is a politics that promotes peace, compassion and unity. Only then does politics have value,” he said when officiating the opening of the Paya Rumput state constituency election operations centre in Krubong last night.
Saifuddin cited Malaysia's ranking as the world's 12th safest destination to visit as evidence of the government's ability to maintain national security.
He also highlighted the RM200 schooling assistance provided to 5.2 million students nationwide as an example of a welfare initiative with a direct impact on households.
He said a family with three school-going children would receive RM600, helping to cover expenses such as school uniforms, shoes, sportswear, bags and other educational supplies.
“The Prime Minister is helping to think about and resolve these school-related concerns. This is a small example of an initiative that every household with school-going children can feel,” he said.
