KEPONG MP Lim Lip Eng has accused PAS of exploiting the Sultan of Selangor’s decree to stir religious sentiment over the proposed movement of live pigs from Sarawak into the state.
Lim, who is also Port Klang Free Zone chairman, challenged PAS to identify the legal provisions that prohibit the import of live pigs from Sarawak or other states into Selangor.
“I challenge PAS to produce legal provisions proving that Selangor prohibits the import of live pigs from Sarawak or other states. Without a legal basis, do not accuse others of treason,” he said.
He said Muslims must observe Islamic dietary requirements, but such religious rules should not be imposed on non-Muslims, who have the right to choose their food as long as they comply with the law.
Lim urged the Selangor authorities to investigate allegations made by PAS and take legal action if it was established that anyone had deliberately spread false information to mislead Muslims.
“Do not use the dietary issues of non-Muslims as a political bargaining chip. What Chinese people eat and drink, as long as it is within the law, is none of PAS’s business,” he said. - October 26, 2026
