A TOTAL of 2,097 police personnel and officers were arrested for drug offences, robbery and corruption between 2021 and August this year, the Dewan Rakyat was told.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said 1,551 arrests involved drug offences, 64 were related to robbery, while the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested 482 police personnel over the same period.
The figures were provided in a written parliamentary reply to Lim Lip Eng (PH-Kepong), who asked for the number of police personnel arrested for the three categories of offences since 2021.
Arrests under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 totalled 357 in 2021, 248 in 2022, 245 in 2023, 310 in 2024 and 256 in 2025. Another 135 were recorded between January and August this year.

MACC arrests numbered 77 in 2021, 86 in 2022, 129 in 2023, 53 in 2024, 87 in 2025 and 50 between January and August this year.
Op Viking: RM409mil in assets frozen, seized
In a separate parliamentary reply, Saifuddin said police had frozen and seized assets worth about RM409 million in the ongoing investigation into alleged “corporate mafia” activities under Op Viking.
The assets comprised eight properties, 11 vehicles, 417 Central Depository System (CDS) accounts, 70 stock trading accounts involving about RM323.59 million and 404 bank accounts holding approximately RM85.62 million.
As at Sept 25, police had recorded statements from 70 individuals. Several people had also been arrested as investigators pursued assets believed to be linked to the activities under investigation.
Saifuddin was responding to Datuk Dr Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (PN-Pengkalan Chepa), who sought details of the investigation following the Cabinet’s directive for a comprehensive probe into the allegations.
He said no MACC officers had been identified as being involved in the activities under investigation or as requiring assistance in the probe, based on the backgrounds and identities of those called in to give statements.
The investigation was ongoing, with police working to complete the investigation papers, he added.
12 policemen investigated over alleged cryptocurrency robbery
Saifuddin also said police had opened an investigation paper into an alleged robbery involving 12 policemen accused of taking about RM200,000 in cryptocurrency from a group of foreigners at Country Heights, Kajang, on Feb 5.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code, which deals with gang robbery.
The 12 policemen, including four from Bukit Aman’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department, were arrested after a Chinese national lodged a report over an alleged raid on a rented bungalow.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail previously said the officers had been assigned desk duties to ensure the investigation could proceed properly.
The victims’ lawyer had questioned the lack of updates on the case and said he would write to the investigating officer and the Attorney-General’s Chambers. - October 28, 2026
