A MAN and a woman in their forties were found dead inside a carbon storage area at an abandoned condominium project site near Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hamsa Bin Isnurdini said the duo, a man and a woman, were found unconscious when firefighters freed them from the locked storage facility around noon today.

"We were alerted to the incident through an emergency call at 10.22am, prompting an immediate response from our team," said Hamsa in a statement here.

The carbon storage facility is part of the condominium’s fire extinguishing system.

The circumstances of the two individuals found inside the storage room were unclear and the Fire and Rescue Department has handed over the bodies to the police for investigation.

Husni said the on-site operations concluded at 11.57am after ensuring the area was free from any hazardous elements. - The Vibes, January 17, 2024
