POLICE are looking for the owner of a Singapore-registered car after he allegedly used a golf club to smash the rear window of a Malaysian-registered SUV on the North-South Expressway.
Johor police chief M. Kumar in a statement said the incident occurred at about 2.36 pm last Saturday at KM 139.6 of the North-South Expressway (heading north).
He said a 54-second video on the incident has also since gone viral.
"We are probing the case under Section 427 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term up to five years, fine or both upon conviction.
"Investigations are also being carried out under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said.
Kumar said initial investigations revealed that the incident was triggered when the victim's SUV blocked the suspect's car along the emergency lane.
"The suspect then got out of his car and smashed the back windscreen of the SUV," he said.
In the viral video, the driver of a red Mitsubishi Lancer is seen getting out after the victim slapped his car as he was trying to reverse.
He is seen using a golf club to smash the rear window of the black SUV.
Other people were seen getting out of their vehicles as the altercation continued.
Kumar urged the public not to speculate on the incident, as this could affect investigations. - The Vibes, February 12, 2024
