A SOCIAL media user who was on a quest to reunite an RM50 note, which has a sentimental message written on it, with its original owner has finally found her.

In an updated Facebook post, Mohd Azfarul Zainol Akmar, 35, uses the id Tuah Lim, said that the owner had contacted him and he had returned the note to her.

The owner was identified as Nur Hidayah Mohamad, 25, from Jabor in Kemaman.

The currency note, which her late ailing father had given to her, bore a message penned by him as it was to be the last cash he would give her.

Hidayah said her father passed away soon after due to kidney problems, and she admitted to having to use the money a few months later due to urgent circumstances.

"At that time, it was the only cash in my purse, and the nearest ATM was quite a distance away," she said.

She said she was overjoyed to get the note back from Azfarul who had put out a social media to look for the owner.

"When it went viral I noticed the date and the inscription and was confident that it was my money, and I contacted Mohd Azfarul on Facebook.

"I will take care of it as best as I can from now on because it is the last spending money given by my late father," she said.

Azfarul, meanwhile, said he felt relieved to be able to return the money to its owner.

"Thankfully, everything has come to an end and the owner has been found. I gave her the money after examining the evidence and the date of her father's death on various social media platforms," he said.

The note bears a special message written in Bahasa Malaysia which reads, "The last money from dad" with the date 11/5/20 and the words "Al-fatihah".

Azfarul got it from an ATM in Kuantan. – The Vibes, February 24, 2024
