PENANG has announced a special bonus payout to the state's estimated 3,500 civil servants in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow disclosed that the state civil service would receive a half-month bonus or a minimum of RM1,200 by March 15.

The state will also allocate RM300 each to the supervisors and teachers of Kelas Al-Quran dan Fardu Ain (Kafa), religious primary and secondary school teachers, tahfiz, and preschool teachers as well as Muslim employees in private Chinese vernacular schools.

The state has allocated RM7.4 million for this purpose.

"We hope this allocation can help reduce the burden of the civil service in making plans to celebrate Hari Raya Aidil Fitri," said Chow.
