Organisers choose country with largest fan bases for the two teams.

Liverpool, Manchester United to battle it out in Malaysia

FAR from UK, Liverpool and Manchester United fans in Malaysia will a golden opportunity to see their football heroes play the beautiful game live at Bukit Jalil Stadium on April 27.  

Organisers ACO Media and World Football Legends (WFL) have announced the line-ups for the two teams ahead of the clash. Manchester United will feature manager Teddy Sheringham, alongside players Wes Brown, David May, Clayton Blackmore, Keith Gillespie, Ben Thornley, Eric Djemba Djemba, Paul Rachubka, Russell Breadsmore, Lee Martin, Danny Webber, Mikael Silvestre, Quinton Fortune, Dimitar Berbatov, Erik Nevland and Dion Dublin. Dwight Yorke will lead the squad as captain. 

Liverpool manager David James will lead players Emile Heskey, Glen Johnson, Patrik Berger, Vladimir Smicer, John Arne Riise, Jason McAteer, Florent Sinama-Pongole, John Durnin, David Thompson, Jermaine Pennant, Stephane Henchoz, Djibril Cisse and Phil Babb. Luis Garcia will wear the captain’s armband. Steve McManaman, English football’s most decorated player, will make a special appearance for the side. Macca, as he was known during his nine years at Liverpool, won the FA Cup and League Cup before moving in 1999 to Real Madrid, where he won the La Liga and UEFA Champions League.

Ticket are available at ticket2u.com.my. Seats are priced from RM78 to RM1,888. Exclusive merchandise are also available at the same site.

AllStar Sports project director Raf Yaakob expects to see 40,000 fans on game day. 

“Since this is the only venue in Southeast Asia for the match, the demand for tickets has been exceptional. We encourage fans to secure seats promptly as soon as tickets are on sale. We have been receiving enquiries on ticket sales since the announcement of the event and we are truly delighted with the enthusiastic response,” he said. 

“Battle of the Reds” is presented by Maybank and Tune Protect Group with the support of JBL, Spritzer, ST Rosyam Mart and Nuuna. Astro is the official media partner.

The match organisers have pledged to contribute all of the proceeds from the sale of 376 tickets, each valued at RM108, to support Persatuan WeCareJourney, a local organisation dedicated to supporting families affected by spinal muscular atrophy and disabilities.  – April 4, 2024.
