PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to officiate the closing ceremony of the Kaamatan Harvest Festival on May 31 at the Hongkod Koisaan Cultural Hall in Penampang.
Sabah Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan said this after briefing governor Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at the state palace, Seri Kinabalu, in Kota Kinabalu today.
Jeffrey is the Kaamatan Central Organising Committee chairman.
“The opening ceremony will be officiated by Juhar on May 30 while the closing ceremony will be officiated by Anwar on May 31,” he told reporters after his briefing to the governor.
“There will be a slight change in this year’s ceremonies, usually, Juhar will be doing the closing, but this time, he has been asked to officiate the opening as May 31 falls on a Friday,” he added.
The month-long Harvest Festival will culminate each year on May 31 at the KadazanDusun Cultural Association Hall or known as the Hongkod Koisaan (Unity Hall) on May 30 and May 31. – The Vibes, May 20, 2024
