THE home of Selangor FC player Ahmad Khuzaimi Piee was burgled yesterday evening while he was at club training session in Shah Alam.

Khuzaimi is the fourth footballer to fall victim to a crime this month.

He told FMT he discovered his house was burgled when he reached home at 9pm.

His Yamaha motorcycle was stolen, along with four sling bags, and a passport.

Last week, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) asked the Malaysian Football League to tighten security for the  safety players, especially when they travel to and from stadiums for matches.

FAM deputy president Yusoff Mahadi emphasised the importance of player safety, especially after recent incidents involving three footballers, one of whom was gravely injured.

Early this month, Faisal Halim, who plays for Selangor, was splashed with acid by an unknown assailant. Faisal suffered fourth-degree burns on his body, and the injuries have restricted his movements and speech.

The attack on Faisal was the third on a Malaysian football player in less than a week.

He was attacked two days after Terengganu FC loan player Muhammad Akhyar Abdul Rashid was injured in the head and leg when he was set upon by two robbers in Kuala Terengganu.

This was after Johor Darul Ta'zim player Safiq Rahim, who is also on the national team, had the rear windscreen of his car smashed with a hammer by two men on a motorcycle in Johor Baru. – May 23, 2024.
