A VIDEO of a boy driving a car near Sibu town in central Sarawak has gone viral on social media, but the police are not amused.

The Sibu police have hauled up the parents of the 11-year-old boy, who is reported to be autistic.

The father of the boy could face charges under the Road Transport Act for reckless driving and dangerous behaviour on public roads.

Sibu district police chief Zulkipli Suhaili said the police found the video on Facebook yesterday.

"Someone uploaded the video showing a small boy driving a car along a road that was later identified as Jalan Kampung Nyabor.

"Our team immediately carried out investigations into the video.

"About 6.50pm, we traced the boy and his parents, went to their house, and took them to the police station for questioning," he said in a press statement.

Zulkipli said the police found that the boy has a medical history of autism.

"We have issued a summons against the father of the boy under the Road Transport Act 1987," he added. – June 6, 2024.
