HIGHWAY concessionaire Prolintas Group last night confirmed three senior managers have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in a graft investigation.

In a statement, the company, which runs six tolled highways, said it would fully cooperate with the authorities to assist in the investigation.

“Prolintas is aware that our personnel have been remanded by MACC to assist in an ongoing investigation relating to a construction (contract).

“Prolintas continues to be committed to maintaining the highest levels of integrity and corporate governance.”

Free Malaysia Today reported yesterday that MACC had arrested a chief executive officer and two top officials of a Klang Valley highway concessionaire in connection with bribes involving two highway projects.

The anti-graft agency also arrested five people for allegedly offering bribes for the contracts.

The portal sources said the highway concessionaire trio were believed to have solicited and accepted bribes from the five individuals to enable them to get a construction contract worth RM1 billion, previously carried out by another company.

They allegedly sought for and accepted more bribes for a RM670 million contract involving the construction of a section of another highway project in the Klang Valley.

MACC deputy chief commissioner Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya confirmed the arrests and said the probe was carried out under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009. – June 26, 2024.
