WATER supply in seven districts in Selangor is expected to be fully resolved by Friday, Bernama reports.
Selangor Infrastructure and Agriculture Committee chairman Izham Hashim said water supply in some areas is expected to be restored as early as 8am tomorrow following the full operation of the water treatment plants (WTPs).
“The Rantau Panjang WTP and Sungai Selangor Phases 1, 2 and 3 WTPs resumed full operations at 3pm today," he said.
“Water distribution from the Rantau Panjang WTP began at 6pm today while the WTPs are expected to start (water distribution) at 8 am tomorrow.
He said most users will get their water supply within 24 hours.
Izham said the premises which caused the water disruption by discharging waste into the rivers have been issued a compound notice from the Selayang Municipal Council.
The river pollution, detected on Tuesday, has been traced to a factory believed to be processing acrylic materials for recycling.
Seven areas in the Klang Valley – Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, and Kuala Selangor – experienced unscheduled water disruptions because of the temporary shutdown of four WTPs following the pollution. – July 23, 2024.
