BERSATU leader Badrul Hisham Shaharin, known as Chegubard, has been arrested today over his alleged disclosure of corruption involving Navy officials, his lawyer Rafique Rashid said.

Rafique said Chegubard was arrested at 3pm at the Putrajaya district police headquarters.

He is being investigated under Section 203A of the Penal Code for the disclosure of information, Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act for unauthorised disclosure of official secrets, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for posting an offensive remark.

Rafique said police have confirmed they will seek a remand order tomorrow morning to detain Chegubard for further investigations.

This is not the first time Chegubard has been arrested for exposing corruption and political issues. He had previously been questioned for organising anti-government rallies. – 28 July 2024.
