WITH bidding for the MADANI special series number plates set to end at 10 pm tomorrow, one particular plate number is getting more attention than the rest.

As of today, the special “Madani” vehicle registration plate featuring the number “8481” has topped the bidding price list at RM9,999 in its category.

The number 8481 is popular with car number enthusiasts and is similar to the word “BABI” or pig.

The number "Madani 47" is also of interest as many have equated it with the 47 corruption charges against Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Umno president has since been granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) from all 47 charges.

The road transport department said the lowest price is RM100 for running numbers and the highest is RM20,000 for special numbers.

Bidding through the JPJeBid system began on Saturday and will close at 10 pm tomorrow.

JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said in a statement that the results would be announced on Thursday.

On Sunday Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received the special registration number plate of “MADANI 10” from transport minister Loke Siew Fook during the Madani Rakyat 2024 Sayangi Sabah programme in Kota Kinabalu.
