THE Department of Community Development (Kemas) under the Federal Government has decided there will not be any school fee increase for all its pre-school childcare centres and kindergartens throughout the country.
This is to enable Kemas pre-schools to remain accessible to as many children as possible, said Dewan Rakyat deputy Speaker Alice Lau.
Lau, who is Member of Parliament for Lanang constituency in Sibu town in central Sarawak, delivered the good news during a Kemas event in Sibu.
She is also DAP Lanang branch chief.
"The Madani Government in Putrajaya is very supportive of early education for all the children in every group of society.
"That is why Putrajaya has recently decided that Kemas will not increase any fees or charges in any of its pre-school childcare centres and kindergartens run by Kemas in all states.
"This will ensure that children from all income groups can go to Kemas for early education," she said.
Lau said the Madani Government understands that the rakyat cannot be burdened by more increases in costs of living.
She said the Federal Government is striving to help the rakyat alleviate their daily burdens.
Ensuring that education remains accessible and affordable is one of the ways to help the rakyat, she added. - December 24, 2024
